Promote Your New Website
Now that you have a website for your business you need to create its visibility to potential customers. Many of our clients have asked us how they can increase their website traffic. There is no simple answer to this question, but one way is with your traditional off-line business promotion methods.
Promotion and marketing of your website through all the potential mediums is important to position yourself for a successful on-line presence. Remember, it does not happen simply because you publish a website. It happens because you drive traffic to your site just as you do with a bricks and mortar business presence today. The more you promote your website you will find the more effective it is for your business. Research indicates that more and more buyers do their research on-line. Your website becomes an extension of your business and a helpful sales tool when you drive traffic to it. Here are some promotional methods for your website.
You should promote your website with all the methods that you are currently using to promote your business offline.
Traditional promotion includes:
-
Company Literature
Make sure you include your website address on all of your business cards, stationery, and other offline promotional materials. -
Direct Mail
Direct mail has historically been a very successful medium for generating sales opportunities in traditional "bricks and mortar" businesses. Direct mail can be used to promote the website and special promotions that may be found on your website. -
Brochures, Fliers, and Door hangers
Make sure that all your brochures, fliers, and door hangers clearly identify your website address. - Newspaper and Magazine Advertisements Each ad should clearly indicate the website address.
-
Radio, Television and Cable
If you are using broadcast advertising ensure that all ads finish with a clear statement of the website address. Without a website address prospects can't find you on-line. -
Product labels
If you use product labels on any equipment you sell or install you will probably have service and support telephone numbers. You should also have your website address on these labels. -
Signs and Installer shirts
Signage on your store and any signage on company or service vehicles and clothing should have the website address. -
Press releases
Any press releases that you do should clearly indicate the website address. -
Novelty items
If you ever use novelty items - Pens, mugs, magnets, calendars, and other items you give to potential and current customers in promoting your business, make sure the website address is included in contact information. -
Phone Conversations with your Prospects
A powerful way to promote and use your website is while you are on the phone with your prospects. Often people are sitting by a PC with Internet connection. If they have questions about or are confused by the different offers, programming or promotions, ask them to go to your website and walk them through the information. Ask the client to "Bookmark" or "Add to Favorites" your website address to their browser for future referencing. Our retailers have told us this saves them time and allows them to close new prospects faster. It also makes them look VERY professional. Prospects are likely to tell their friends and family about the experience. -
Automated phone greetings and waiting messages
Include your website address on automated phone greetings or voice waiting messages. For example, a prospect hears that the agents are all busy or the office is closed. "...For more information on-line visit our website at www.nancysat.com".
Good luck with any or all of these promotional methods that you choose to use.

Information you can View and Maintain in "My Account"
Now that you have successfully logged in to your account, here are the items that are available to you.
-
Home:
administrative home page, which recaps the options available in My Account. -
Prospect List:
This is the lead generation list created when a prospect clicks on Order Now or Contact Us on your website. To view the list, click on Prospect List. Your prospect list will appear with the following details - ( plus sign) click on the "plus sign" for additional contact information for this prospect, [X] click on the "X" to delete this prospect entry. Caution, once you delete a prospect entry it cannot be recreated. Prospect information shown is Name - prospect name, Phone - prospect telephone number, Time Stamp - date the prospect submitted his inquiry, Comments - comments entered by the prospect.
Do Not be discouraged if your prospect list is not populated. Research indicates many people use websites for purchase information gathering, but are still very hesitant about submitting personal information on-line for fear of SPAMMING, ID theft, etc. Once a prospect has completed their on-line research they are more likely to call your business directly with their order. A better indication of your website activity is to inquire at the point of sale as to whether your website was visited and its information was useful to this client. -
Site Details:
This is the area that you can alter information that appears on your website. Change your company name, address, email address, telephone number, or business hours. Recall that you also have a choice from 3 homepage templates. If you want to change the appearance of your website, you can select any of the 3 options - Red, Grey, or White. These website items can be changed at any time. Be sure to SAVE your changes. -
Company Information:
In this area your Account id and website creation date are displayed along with your company information as recorded in the Decentrix client base. Should your company name or address change you can make these modifications yourself. Be sure to SAVE your changes. -
Contact Details:
This is the contact information of the primary contact that signed up for the website service and is kept in the Decentrix client base. Should your contact information such as Name, User ID, E-mail address, telephone number or password need to be changed, you can perform these changes yourself in this area. Be sure to SAVE your changes. -
Billing Details:
Decentrix maintains your credit card on record for its automatic billing of the website's monthly fee. This is most likely the credit card you used to sign up for your website. However, should you need to change information, i.e. expiration date; want to add a new card for the monthly fee, or just have a second card on file; you can maintain this information personally. If you need to edit a current card, simply click on Edit and make the necessary changes, and click on Save Info. If you want to add a new card, click on the Click Here link, add your new card information, determine if you want to make this card active by checking the "Active" checkbox, and click on Add New Card. By adding a new active card, or editing a card to become active, any other previously active card on file will become inactive. If you have added a new active card and want to delete the previous card, after you have made the new card active, click on Delete on the old card.
